Perrott’s Brook parish councillor and environmental campaigner Dave Kerr-Rettie has died suddenly at the age of 59.
Dave, who leaves four children and wife Kathy, stood for the Liberal Democrats in the Northleach Division for the County Council elections in 2009 and came very close to winning what had been seen previously as a ‘safe’ Conservative seat. He died following a short illness on Sunday 5 September 2011.
Cllr Paul Hodgkinson paid tribute to Dave:
‘I first met Dave six years ago. He was a gentle, decent and genuine man who had deeply held beliefs, particularly about the environment. Always community-minded, he was very active as a parish councillor in Bagendon and was never afraid to get his hands dirty to get things fixed for people in the area.”
“He was a key member of the group which has been working on the Churn Valley Safer Cycle and Walkers Route between Stratton and Rendcomb – I’m so glad he was able to see the improvements to the route as he had been campaigning for this to happen for many years.”
“His sudden loss is a shock to all of us who knew him and is difficult to reconcile as he had so much more to give.”
